Howard Thompson leads GCAPS’ Energy & Infrastructure practice and brings many years of banking and entrepreneurial experience to the firm. His background includes capital markets, strategic planning, asset-backed commercial paper, risk management, asset securitization, international leasing, and structured finance. He has held senior positions at Marine Midland Bank/HSBC, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi in New York, Commerzbank AG in New York, JCMC, and Intesa Sanpaolo in New York. Through JPP Energy Limited, LLC, he has originated financing and investment opportunities in Asia and Latin America, focusing on infrastructure, energy, financial institutions, and debt and equity transactions for major sponsors, lenders, and institutional investors.

  • Raised US$1 billion to finance a privatization investment in Asia
  • Managed a US$2 billion securities arbitrage for a U.S. funding conduit
  • Structured US$100 million of acquisition financing for downstream petroleum assets
  • Negotiated a US$20 million working capital credit line backed by receivables and brand trademark assets
  • Marketed US$4 billion of credit facilities to investment-grade and non-investment-grade counterparties
  • Helped restructure sovereign debt tied to a Southeast Asian municipal transport system
